unaffordable luxury

The price of beer is depressing. I enjoy a beer or two after a long day of work, but who wants to pay $40 for a case of beer? And that's not even a premium brand or anything imported.. that's the cheap nasty stuff!

Buying other 'alternative' substances off the black market used to be okay, but not any more. The police are getting active and the dealers are getting raided a lot recently so the prices have skyrocketed so even the most competitive of dealers are raising their prices!

Even the price of food is going up massively! These days if you want to buy good food you have to pay extra, cause now everything that has any nutritional value to it is labelled as being good for you and they use this to justify their exorbitant prices. If you want food that is affordable you have to buy cheap sloppy foods that will kill you before your next visit to the loo. And even those aren't what one would call cheap in price.

I feel that the public is being rauted. They turned us into a generation of overstimulated obese alcoholic drug users and now everything we define our lives by has tripled in price! It's just not fair. :(

I know!!!!!
oh God, I understand completely.
same thing with alt substance is happening here, and my main source (also, half the town's source) is dry, as he got caught, and is now under a watchful police eye. he's in court someday this week, but i cant remember when, damn, i was going to call, see if he was ok.
the "cheap" girly drinks have all gone up a dollar a bottle now, as a new tax in is force to try to curb binge drinking, esp in girls. but thats what I drink!! and i dont binge! now i have to buy my rum and coke separately.
And food!! shit, man. it doesn't seem to have increased as much here as it has in the cities, but even the no-name brands like coles and black and gold have risen 15 cents each. they do it slowly, but they're going up.
It's all about bloody inflation. interest rates and oil prices and everything are all going up, but our wages haven't caught up. I am working as a nurse now, and the money is great for me, as i have been on the dole for so long, but all the older nurses are constantly complaining about mortgages and family costs. at least i get sick leave now, how cool is that!

BLAAAARRG!!
Bottle of Merlot will cost you four dollars. Thats for a nice bottle too, now obviously the danger of wine is that it is so cheap, everyone thinks it's an innocent little drink but when you find yourself with a full wallet 6 bottles later . . - well hey, it's a little more prestigious than beer atleast, and it's cheaper, nicer, mellower - you more than likely already know this.

This is one way to escape the carton, just don't discover (or rediscover - or keep up) the cask.
You guys are lucky, they just passed a bill in Queensland to increase tax on premixes 40% because they think it's gonna help stop binge drinking. Motherfuckers are knee-jerk :( And yeah, it's dry as a mother up here too. 2.1g sticks have now became 1.2g sticks of the most horribly scratchy shit you can find, 1oz bags are up to about $350. What the crap? That's fuckin' schoolyard prices that is.

 I left my heart in Chicago.
I heard today they want to bring in some new laws to raise the taxes on beer and wine by 300%? I dunno. I thought it was already taxed heaps and expensive enough as it is.

Wine is nice though. I like the dry red wines, but after a few bottles it puts me straight to sleep. I swear its the best sedative.. I can't stay awake long enough to get too drunk off it so it's mostly harmless for me.

And yeah casks of wine.. $10 for 4 litres and it's sickly sweet. It's not even wine its just an alcoholic syrup of some kind in mass quantities. Drank my fair share as a kid and don't think I'd ever sink that low again. :puke:
I'd rather buy one or two bottles of decent clearskin for that price.
Yeah it's like you said.. prices of everything are going up, except wages aren't matching them. Everything is being artificially inflated by massive entities.

I feel sorry for the people who have mortgages to pay, they're getting screwed over in a big way. It's getting almost as bad as renting cost wise.

Good to hear you got yourself a nice job though. There's a lot of demand in nursing!
Haha and yeah sick leave.. getting paid to be sick as a nurse! :w00t:
Yeah I understand binge drinking is a problem in Aus amongst youth and yeah they probably should do something about it, but their approach isn't addressing the underlying cause anyway. They're effectively sweeping the problem under the carpet and making the problem worse. Knee jerk reaction in a major way.

If all those extra taxes from alcohol were being used to prevent and treat alcohol abuse I'd even understand that to an extent, but I know all that extra money will just be blown on sugarcoating some other bogus scheme.

And as far as grass goes.. Supply and demand is fair enough, but this is ridiculous! I remember not so long ago when an ounce was $230! Time to ship off to some other country soon I think. Either that or it's time to find a new vice and go claim some prescriptions off medicare haha.
yeah money sucks allthough ruddy just put up mixed drink prices which cracks me up
